2018 is our year of Hesed Wisdom. I have been blessed to have found a church led by a senior pastor who seeks the Lord for the direction that He is leading the church towards. These themes have personal significance for me as I reflect on the previous years, and see what the Lord has done in my life. How they correspond to the theme of the year builds my faith and I am certain that those were the works of God. 2017 was the year of Jubilee, and I experienced great rejoicing and freedom in my life as God pulled me back to Him.

Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

1 Peter 5:6-7 NKJV

Another practice that I have learned from the church is that we do not believe in making New Year’s resolutions. From past experience, I was never able to uphold the resolutions I made. Instead, we lift three specific prayer requests to God on Vision Sunday, the first service of the year. This takes off all the demands from me and puts all the demands on God.

For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

1 Corinthians 2:16 NKJV

My first and most important prayer request for 2018 is to have the mind of Christ, that I would have a hearing heart. This prayer honestly comes from my heart especially since I have recently been trying to improve my memory recently, and I want to open the eyes of my heart to constantly be able to see Him who is invisible. Thankfully, that was coincidentally inclined to the theme of the year, and as I lift my prayer requests up to God, I am certain that He would exceed my expectations because I am His beloved. I have the confidence in my God to believe that when I look back and reflect on 2018, He would have answered all my prayer requests, and be true to me in His year of Hesed Wisdom!
